Aquarius Roman Szmal

Today I want to introduce you to the brand "Aquarius Roman Szmal company.

Extra fine watercolours AQUARIUS debuted on the market on November 28, 2018, but they were known and tested by artists long before that. For many of them, even before this date, our paints became the basis of their workshop, and this is the best recommendation. Every, even the smallest batch of our paints is subjected to thorough tests in order to meet the highest requirements of our demanding customers. The labels placed on our paints are made of watercolour paper and painted with original paint. This way we provide reliable information on lightfastness, granulation, transparency and the degree of penetration into paper.

The AQUARIUS palette includes 140 shades:

117 mono pigment:

34 earth tones (all of which are made from natural, mined earth pigments, NOT synthetic iron oxides);

8 modern quinacridone colours;

Several self-stratifying paints, among which there are unique tones such as: Aquarius Green, Permanents Grey, Ocean Blue, and olive greens.

Colours are made in small batches that allows them to be carefully checked. Every batch is tested for performance qualities: vibrancy, flowing abilities, viscosity, colour value, transparency, granulation, undertone, tinting strength, clarity and particle size. For each colour, Roman Szmal select the perfect grind to match the particle size.

Each colour is made with high-quality gum arabic and glycerine, linden honey, distilled water and pure pigments. Every pan is hand filled and labelled with watercolour paper.

Today we bring to your attention"

24 Aquarius colours Pasqualino Fracasso's Palette

24 Aquarius colours Pasqualino Fracasso's Palette - the set is packed in a cardboard box, on the box is general information, as well as digital and graphic designations of colours that are contained in the set (detailed information on the composition of each colour).

The set contains 24 colours (whole cuvettes). The colour palette for this set was Pasqualino Fracasso. I fully appreciated the choice of the master, all the colours in their place and complement each other perfectly, (frankly, I really like sets with individual palettes, it is always interesting to keep track of which colour compositions the master prefers).

Each cuvette is packed in a two-layer paper wrapper. On the wrapper, all the information about the colour, including the pigment composition, barcode and colouring.

A plastic panel with cuvettes is removed from the box, for ease of use and with a view to minimizing wear of the box itself. )

All colours of this set, bright, saturated, perfectly interact with water. There are granulating and hiding colours, Naples Yellow Light, Cobalt Teal, Mineral Violet, Shadow Violet discovered for myself, I am always quite careful about many pigment colours, but not this time, the effects that I received, thanks to unique combinations, pleased and inspired me to new experiments.

15 colours of this set are one pigmented, 9 colours are many pigmented.

The colour of Aquarius Black, despite one pigmented composition, gives a very picturesque granulation. For a long time I chose black colour for myself with a similar effect, the conclusion is, we take it into the palette.

For more than a year, I have been using Phthalo Blue, Cobalt Blue, Blue sky - excellent bright shades, pure transparent colours, and are very interesting in combination with Indigo from Roman Szmal.

All colors presented have maximum light fastness.

Testing is presented on two types of paper, for comparison. The first - 100% cellulose 300 g \ m2, the second - textural, density - 450 g / m2

All colours interact perfectly with water, even coverage, saturated colours, granulation effects exceeded all expectations, 100% excellent compliance with the declared properties.

During the testing of the set, I'm wrote two works:

"Memory of the sea" - 30 * 40 cm

In this work I used colours for the sky: 405 Cobalt Blue, 221 French Ultramarine, 226 Blue Sky, 334 Mineral Violet, for writing dark clouds, I added Indigo from the Roman Szmal series

For sea and beach: 232 Naples Yellow Light, 213 Flesh Tint, 346 Aquarius Green, 131 Van Dyck Brown

Writing all the work took no more than 30 minutes, an unusual combination of colours + granulation effect when writing the sky, gave an interesting, unexpected result for me.

The work is in a private collection in Ukraine.

"Night city" - 38 * 56 cm

In this work, I used the following colours: 110 Transparent Gold Ochre, 232 Naples Yellow Light, 103 Phthalo Blue (Green Shade), 405 Cobalt Blue, for writing dark clouds, I added Indigo from the Roman Szmal series

In some places Indigo gave a little sediment, which only added to the work of some nightly charm. Otherwise, the work is fully consistent with the idea, writing the work took about an hour, and it was a relaxation. It's nice to work with paints that behave on paper in accordance with the idea of the artist.

The work is in a private collection in Poland.
