Program of events for the International Watercolour Festival of the Step by Step project

Day 1

August 22



From 10:00 Start of registration of festival participants.

Presentation of the festival program, and introductions.

10:30 Watercolour performance. Demonstration of skill from Anastasiya Mouchan . Drawing a portrait from life.

From12:30 A series of lectures from the world's leading artists. Booklets with translations of lectures into English and Polish will be available for lecture listeners.

15:00 – 19:00 "One day Plein air" in the centre of the old city among the festival participants. Demonstration of skills in the open air in the old town from Sergiy Lysyy. Prize drawing from the organizers among the "One day Plein Air" participants.

For those interested, additional excursions will be organized during the day to: European Solidarity Centre; Ship Museum Soldek; Museum of the Second World War; Amber Museum in Gdansk + observation deck of St. Mary's Basilica.*

15:30 For festival participants who do not take part in the plein air, a demonstration of skill from Julia Kochetova.

20:00 Opening ceremony of the International Festival of Watercolour Art «Step by Step». Award ceremony for the project winners. Opening of the International Watercolour Exhibition dedicated to the fourth season of the Step by Step project on the territory of the entire historical complex "Uphagen Courtyard"​. Festive buffet with finger food, wine, and cool drink for festival participants.


Day 2

August 23



From 9:00 Registration of festival participants, presentation of catalogues, prizes, and certificates.

Presentation of works by "One day Plein Air" participants in the festival halls.

Presentation of materials from project ART partners in the main hall of the festival. Testing of materials, introductory presentations. Market from manufacturers!

9:30 Demonstration of skill from Prafull Sawant

12:00 Demonstration of skill from Angus McEwan

14:00 Lunch, participants will have access to cakes, cool drinks, tea, and coffee in the hall.

Drawing of prizes and places for master classes among festival participants.

15:00 Demonstration of skills from Roberto Andreoli in main hall among with «Group Demonstration of skills» from festival participants.

17:15 Evening trip to the city of Sopot. Sopot is the pearl of northern Poland. This city is also called the Polish Riviera.

Plein air on the beach in Sopot among the festival participants. Demonstration of skills in the open air from Alexander Bobryshev. "Quick sea sketches" drawing with a master.

20:30 Late dinner together in restaurant in Sopot.


Day 3

24 August



From 9:00 Registration of festival participants presentation of catalogues, prizes, and certificates.

Presentation of works by participants in skill demonstrations in the festival halls.

Presentation of materials from project ART partners in the main hall of the festival. Testing of materials, introductory presentations. Market from manufacturers!

13:30 Lunch, participants will have access to cakes, cool drinks, tea, and coffee in the hall. Drawing of prizes and places for master classes among festival participants.

14:30 Demonstration of skill from Samira Yanushkova

16:45 Watercolour performance. Interactive watercolour with the participation of all festival guests. Group Demonstration of skills from festival participants.

20:00 Opening of the International Watercolour Exhibition work of finalists* of the fourth season of the Step by Step project on the street Mariacka 34/36. Festive buffet, wine, and cool drink for festival participants.

OR

For those interested, an excursion to the Malbork Castle Museum will be organized. Malbork is the largest red brick complex in the world. Built in the 13th century, it was the residence of the Teutonic Order. (Departure from the central station at 8:00, arrival in Gdansk at 17:30, travel time one way: 40 minutes)**


Day 4

25-th of August


From 9:00 Registration of festival participants, presentation of catalogues, prizes, and certificates.

Presentation of works by participants in skill demonstrations in the festival halls.

Presentation of materials from project ART partners in the main hall of the festival. Market from manufacturers!

9:15 Presentation demonstration of skills from ART partners of the project demo from Julia Ustinovich.

11:00 Demonstration of skill from Olga Novitskaya

13:00 Demonstration of skill from Carsten Wieland

14:30 Lunch, participants will have access to cakes, cool drinks, tea, and coffee in the hall.

15:30 Demonstration of skill from Vicente García  in main hall among with «Group Demonstration of skills» from festival participants.

17:30 Closing ceremony, presentation of diplomas, awards, and certificates.

20:00 Evening cruise on the Black Pearl ship through the city centre along the Motlava River.


Important information

As part of the festival, additional activities and relaxation zones will be organized for festival participants on the territory of the hotel complex.

Watercolour Sketching:

Special “Watercolour zones” will be organized on the territory of the hotel; their location can be found out using a Sketching zone map. Comfortable places will be created for sketch minutes with materials (paper, a limited palette of colours, water, brushes) from the project’s art partners. In each zone you can create one sketch, and, if desired, move to the next zone. There will be prizes and medals for participants who present their sketches.

(activity will be available to all participants of the full program and to children of participants)

Watercolour Relaxation area on the open terrace in the festival building with a beautiful view of the old city. Everyone will be able to pause to create a sketch or simply enjoy the beautiful view of the city.

A guided tour of the entire historical complex of the Uphagen Courtyard will be available for festival participants.


During the festival there will be many different raffles and mini competitions for participants! Everyone will have a chance to receive their prize!

WORKSHOPS

​PRE-REGISTRATION for WORKSHOPS is OPEN!!!

As part of the festival, workshops from invited artists are scheduled for guests of our watercolour festival. Workshops are paid and by appointment. Information upon request by email: stepbystep.competition@gmail.com

The cost of participation includes: a workshops lasting 4-6 hours in a comfortable hall, groups of 5 to 10 people. The organizers provide all materials. Each participant will receive a personal "Workshop participant Certificate", with the master's signature.
