"DoYouSpeakWatercolor ?" As part of the "InArte" festival.

Today, I want to share my impressions from attending the watercolour evenings that were part of the «InArte» festival in Bologna in 2023. These events took place in a very cozy, modern cafe in the heart of Bologna. The organizer of the events was Carsten Wieland – the founder of a major international online project «DooYouSpeakWatercolor? ». The name of the project speaks for itself, no explanation needed.

The modern approach and excellent organization of the evenings, the cozy creative atmosphere, cool music, and great company – all of this combined to create a perfect addition to the most popular annual international watercolour festival «InArte».

I missed the first evening due to some circumstances, but I managed to attend the second evening and fully enjoy the amazing creative atmosphere.

Light relaxation, pleasant company, interesting conversations about everything under the sun, a glass of Italian wine, or a delicious hot tea – all these vividly highlighted the facets of such a wonderful event.

At a large table, there were demonstrations of skill by artists from all over the world. The demos were easy-going and relaxed; any interested artist could take a spot and simply create their watercolours. Grateful spectators supported the demonstrators well, humour preventing tension from infiltrating this creative idyll. And it didn't matter that many different languages were spoken that evening and the audience was from various countries – everyone spoke in one language that skilfully united the participants of the event. The language of watercolour can create wonders, and for me, it was indeed a wonderful evening...

Pleasant impressions and a charge of creative inspiration allowed me, even several months after the festival, to recall all those impressive moments of the International Watercolour Festival «InArte» and the creative evenings in the cozy cafe in Bologna.

I want to say a few words about the project «DooYouSpeakWatercolor? ». I will immediately note that all written is exclusively my personal opinion, which I formed by observing the development of the project. I allow myself to express this opinion because I have been an organizer of international projects for six years and know a little about all the 'undercurrents' of this complex world.

An innovative project on an online platform. In my opinion, it has become a breath of fresh air for watercolour artists from all over the world. Finally, one large ART platform has appeared on which every artist can post their portfolio, contact information, and short creative biography. Thus, hundreds of artists from all over the world are collected on one resource, completely free, and in high-quality presentation. Enormous work and hours of painstaking work are what remains behind the scenes of such an interesting, necessary, and vibrant platform. At the same time, Carsten Wieland, the founder of the project, constantly conducts very interesting online projects, competitions and live events, which artists from any corner of our planet can join.

If we add to this list catalogues of excellent quality, prizes from ART partners, and interactive online demonstrations of skill as part of various events, we will get an interesting modern project that is very noticeably different from many traditional events in the world of watercolours. I am sure that as part of its development, the project will surprise many more and will force them to reconsider their views on organizing ART events.

I am currently preparing to apply to participate in one of the projects on the platform «DooYouSpeakWatercolor? » of the annual “Award 2023”. And I wish you all success and victories, inspiration, and many bright ideas.
